Alison Kay

Alison Kay was born in Dublin in 1953. She studied at Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design.

Kay has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally. She has been a regular participant at the Royal Hibernian Academy annual exhibition. She is an invited artist for the 2017 RHA annual exhibition. She was selected to show at Ceramic Art London in April 2013. Her work was shown at the Irish Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010.

Kay won the Royal Ulster Academy perpetual silver medal prize for best work by a non-member in 2016. The Ceramics Ireland ‘Peter Brennan Pioneering Award’ in 2012. The Craft and Design Council of Ireland’s ‘Excellence in Making Award’ (in association with the Mill Cove Gallery) in 2010 and 2011, and the Hallward/Millcove Ceramic Award in 2008. She was selected for the Craft and Design Council’s ‘Portfolio’ in 2007.

Her ceramics are in many private and public collections including the National Museum of Ireland, the OPW, Dublin, the Consulate General of Shanghai, China, and Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council.
